If you read my previous cultural snacks article, I told you that the next snack box consists of snacks not from a single country, but a group of countries. The region happens to be Scandinavia, which consists of the countries Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland. Scandinavia is an interesting region to me, so it’s interesting to get a taste of what a few of the snacks are. But let me stop rambling and get straight into the review right now.

As per usual, the booklet and card are shown above.

The Snacks:

KiM’s Snack Chips Supersprød Original (Danish): The taste and texture reminds me of Ruffles. Although, these don’t have a cheese flavor. While slightly strong, I like the flavor of the spices. I get a kick out of eating these. The flavor is addicting, and I would get more if I could. 3.8/5

Draumur (Icelandic): I’m not a huge fan of caramel, but the chocolate and caramel actually compliment each other well. It has some crispies, and while it might rank slightly lower than the Brazilian Bib’s Flocos snack, I give this a good score for the overall package. 4.6/5

Salmiakki-Matto (Finnish): Okay. Where do I begin? This is… something else. In the booklet, it says that this is salty licorice. This is not good to me at all. I thought the seaweed from the Korean box (a different review) wasn’t good, but this is literally a pain to eat. It’s in my mouth as I write this part, and let me tell you. I’d rather be dared to eat seaweed than to eat this salty licorice. Though in all honesty, I once had an Icelandic Candy called Lakkrís, which contained chocolate and licorice, but actually got better the more you ate. This, on the other hand, is something entirely different. You already know that this gets a “NO” from me. Worst snack I’ve had in the history of eating snacks. 1/5

Choko-Flager (Danish): The texture reminds me of the sand cookies from the French box. The look is reminiscent of a tragically made cookie, but honestly, it’s quite good. Definitely accepted by my taste buds, considering the previous snack was so horrible. 4/5

KiM’s America Grill (Norwegian): They are reminiscent of the first snack we tried (the name kind of implies that). However, it has a really good flavor without being strong. For that reason, I would rate this above the first snack. While the first snack wasn’t extremely strong, it had a bit of a strong flavor that made it less pleasant than this snack. 4/5

Pepperkaks Kola (Swedish): This is gingerbread toffee. Obviously it has that gingerbread flavor, but these kinds of candies are always hard. And even when they’re soft, they can easily get stuck in your mouth. I’ll give it some credit. It’s more interesting than the caramels from previous boxes, and it would make great Christmas candy. I’m sure some people here in the States would enjoy it. However, I would rarely eat this. Although, I will give this a bonus for the interesting experience. 3.25/5

Nöt-Crème (Swedish): Well… that was not like I thought it would be. This is a cookie dough praline. I thought the cookie dough was gonna be solid like from a pack or a tub. It’s a ball, but the dough was gooey, which I wasn’t expecting at all. The concept of cookie dough candy is interesting. It wasn’t bad per se, but I probably would’ve liked it more if the cookie dough was solid. 3.5/5

Final Verdict: Ugh. Had it not been for that garbage licorice, this box would’ve had the highest overall rating of the ones I’ve tried. I will say that this was the most interesting snack box I’ve had thus far. Draumur and the Choko-Flager snacks were really good. The chips were also good. One positive thing about the licorice was that trying it was interesting. But I now know to never buy plain salty licorice from the store for the rest of my life.

The Scandinavia box was surely interesting, but I am super excited for the next box. Can you guess what the next country will be? (Hint: I mentioned it in my “Favorite Fashion Designers” article.) If you can guess it, then you’re prepared for my next cultural snacks review. Until then, feel free to read my past cultural snack reviews.

And stay tuned! More blog articles are coming soon.
