Ahh Bride-Lo, Bride-Lo, Bride-Lo. I live for ha (her). Some people complain about her, but where’s that same energy for the men thespians who always play casanovas? Or the men rappers who base their songs on either “f***ing b***hes UP” or getting high off a certain drug? Where is it? As I once said in my review of Marry Me, it’s okay for her (and any Brown Latina or other WOC for that matter) to play mundane roles. So what if she’s “always getting married”? Don’t like, don’t watch. Also, hyperbolizing her relationship history by saying she’s “always getting married” or “having a new boyfriend every 2 weeks” reeks of misogyny. Not a flex at all.

Anyways, it’s funny that I thought of writing a laundry list of recurring thoughts on a music video. I was dedicated and came up with 46 of them while on Welch’s sparkling rosé. I already knew this “Can’t Get Enough” MV would be extravagant based on the snippets. And my God, I know the rest of the movie finna be lit too. Mind you, it’s part of a longer movie titled This is Me… Now: A Love Story. I’ll speak on that when it’s released. But for now, here are my 46 thoughts on “Can’t Get Enough.” Video time stamps are in front of each thought, so envision my commentary playing out while watching it.

  1. 0:03- Oh d**n, look at how luxurious this venue is! The glasses, the vases, the whole wedding aesthetic—I’m HERE for it! It’s giving rich and rich and rich!
  2. 0:06- The Opal Table…hmm. What does that mean? I need to watch on to see if I get any hints on the answer. The table set up is nice though!
  3. 0:08- OHHHHH DAT CAKE! I love the silver decoration on each of the tiers. The flowers give it an extra dimension of distinction too.
  4. 0:10- Those two huge, pristinely cut hearts on the gown’s skirt… I’d never be able to pull that off. How does J.Lo pull a dress like that off? Oh right, because she’s J.Lo, and I’m not. That’s the only right answer.
  5. 0:14- Though as a side note, she’s looking very pretty behind that veil. Doesn’t need to be said, but I’m saying it anyway.
  6. 0:19- “I told you she couldn’t be alone.” The way people actually say this about her. I can already sense the satire present here. The guy’s tone of voice and facial expressions make this part funny HAHAHAHAHAHA.
  7. 0:21- THE RING. That’s it, that’s the thought.
  8. 0:35- “I bet you she thinks the rain’s a sun” oh God I could’ve spit my rosé out if I wasn’t careful. I HAD TO LAUGH AT THAT PART. Again, the way that guy said it left me like
  9. 0:38- Oh-wah-oh, here comes the dance break! YESSSSS here we go!
  10. 0:42- That fountain serves as great scenery omg. It’s giving a bit of a dreamy vibe. I just find fountains therapeutic with the water flow.
  11. 0:47- Ufff watching J.Lo dance is HOT. But also, the song at this point ain’t so bad. It’s quite groovy, and I liked the intro lyric “I feel like startin’ somethin’.”
  12. 0:52- That Cadillac. I know it isn’t the exact car she rode on with Ben when they got married. BUT I bet at one of their two wedding ceremonies they rode out in a Cadillac like that. I can only imagine…
  13. 0:57- I would love to see J.Lo waving from that car in-person as it drove off. Ahh, the camera angles make it a vibe.
  14. 0:59- OH that floral ceiling, OHHHHHH. Those little white flowers closest to the chandeliers make it over-the-top, and those crystal chandeliers add to its over-the-topness. But over-the-topness = extravagant here.
  15. 1:03- The line dancing and this screenshot of the video right here J.Lo dancing on floral wedding aisle with group of dancers (Can't Get Enough) Okay, I’m just picking at petals at this point, but the hotness of her never ends. And the floral wedding aisle is so pretty. Imagine having that at your own wedding. It’d be cool to dance on.
  16. 1:09- Oooop, where J.Lo and her mystery man going? I know that it’s up the stairs, but what are they about to do next?
  17. 1:10- Oh that area around the stage looks so pretty! And I noticed a second later that she goes towards a different guy, and that guy is Derek Hough. That’s her friend and ex-World of Dance judge. I saw the previews and never expected Derek to make an appearance in any of her music videos. Though the guy is talented and it’s great seeing them together, so I support his appearance 100%.
  18. 1:13 The guy and his partner clinking glasses for whatever reason at the table. “Double or nothing,” he says. I guess they’re having some type of bet? I wonder what they’re thinking about.
  19. 1:18- Oh, the caressing. OH, THE CARESSING! Smokin’ hot over there!
  20. 1:23- The guy with the pink shirt bopping his head with his drink LMAO. I need to bop to this song like that. The woman next to him has a nice necklace too.
  21. 1:33- I love how he picks her up and swings her around. It’s so endearing aww.
  22. 1:38- YAS more of Derek and J.Lo’s dance break. They look like they’re having a great time! It’s sexy. THEY’RE sexy! 🤩
  23. 1:47- Here comes the face-morphing part from the preview. Lemme watch more without thinking too much.
  24. 1:53- There’s the rest of the face morphing from the preview. I found it fascinating that the faces switched up as the duet finished up. Might that be her way of mocking the claims that she “goes from man to man”? People have said that about her with misogynist (and in her case, also anti-Latina) undertones. Honestly, I think her doing this is actually genius and shows that she has an eye for satire!
  25. 1:57- Referring back to the scene on 1:13, it seems like that guy and his partner are betting on whether this 3rd marriage is going to work out for J.Lo. Or at least on if it’ll work out for her character. Mind you, her marriage to Ben is her 4th one, and this music video is part of her soon-to-be-released Prime movie. This has got me wondering if the movie will showcase the 4th marriage as well. I’m invested in how This is Me…Now the movie will pan out! Granted, I’m already invested by default. Though interpreting this video has got me anticipating the plot even more now.
  26. 2:00- What are they serving for dinner under those trays? Hmm, I can smell the food from my screen. Let’s see.
  27. 2:03- Oh the way she smiles at Derek’s got me smiling too. Again, those two together are ENDEA-RING.
  28. 2:05- Hmm, I wonder why that woman with the bedazzled necklace is putting that plate in her pocket book. Might it be something she’ll use against her later? I don’t think it’s just memorabilia for her in this instance.Woman stealing plate from table (Can't Get Enough)
  29. 2:11- The food appears to be cupcakes and a couple of other gourmet items. Is that a piece of dragon fruit in the leftmost bowl? I need a close-up of all that STAT.
  30. 2:17- Oooh, the bouquet toss, the classic wedding activity. Everybody’s bunched up to get that flower from J.Lo. Then again, who wouldn’t want a bouquet from her? If it were me, I’d try to preserve it at all costs.
  31. 2:22- “Don’t catch it, it’s cursed” whew, BURN! Looks like one person wouldn’t want a bouquet from her.
  32. 2:27- I’m just thinking, I dig the pink dresses and the pink suits. Gee, those dancers look fabulous.
  33. 2:32- “Well I liked the last guy better, bring him back” ha, what’s making him say that I wonder?
  34. 2:36- You know, it’s always cute to see J.Lo shimmy on the dance floor. Her smile—priceless.
  35. 2:38- So random, but is that INK cheering her on from a table? Yeah, it is. Mind you, she’s one of the songwriters who worked on This Is Me.. Now in case you’re wondering why I care. Also, she was a songwriter on Beyoncé’s Renaissance. Particularly on the songs “Alien Superstar”, “Thique”, and “Summer Renaissance.”
  36. 2:42- LMAO at how all the dancers maneuver their arms.
  37. 2:45- Ohhhh, the dance circle from that camera view is so gorgeous!
  38. 2:49- “Gimme all that SH*T” the way that woman says it with a tinge in her voice makes me chuckle.
  39. 2:52- Shoot, I just noticed that pink hummingbird in the background. It looks like white hummingbird origami are all around too. Gorgeous!
  40. 3:00- I would love to be on the dance floor with them right now. Too bad I can’t dance. I can dance for the sake of humor, but not out of seriousness. My technique sucks big time.
  41. 3:05- The flower petals falling while J.Lo and Derek move closer to each other is such a spectacle omg. One of the most beautiful moments in the entire music video! It helps that the post-chorus of “Can’t Get Enough” fits the moment very well!J.Lo and Derek doing a duet while the pink dancers surround them.
  42. 3:17- The face morphing strikes again! Remember the thought I had about that? See #24 if you don’t.
  43. 3:23- OH SH*T, the cake gets cut between the two toppers and the man topples over. Do we really love that sh*t like the song insists? But then watching milliseconds onward, it’s her man cutting the cake and the woman also toppling over. I shouldn’t have made that assumption so quick. It still reeks of symbolism though.
  44. 3:29- The next few seconds up to that time stamp show her smudging cake onto Derek and that other man who serves as the groom. It’s definitely symbolic of past ceremonies where she had those moments with her ex-spouses. It’s not symbolic of infidelity or polyamory. I’d love to analyze this video for an English, Sociology, or Gender Studies class. I don’t think I’ll ever get to do that, but I can only dream. I’d kill it and get a solid A on the assignment.
  45. 3:34- The upset look on her face despite all that frosting on her nose confirms my previous thought. See, I’m real good at interpreting art like this! Not everyone would read between the lines here.
  46. 3:49- Here’s another part from the video previews. All the criticisms of how she presumably treats her spouses gets spewed by her exes. Only in this main video, we don’t hear her say, “Can’t you just be happy?” Also in the preview, Derek is present on the side, so it looks like he’s playing one of her ex-husbands here.

I watched it the second time too, and it got me wondering, which one of those three men is the third groom? One woman (the partner of that snarky attendee) said “third time’s a charm,” and as mentioned in thought #25, that refers to the third marriage. Then again, it may not matter who the third groom is since he’ll become her ex anyway. That might be what the face morphing is meant to illustrate: that none of those men were ultimately for her. Their relationships didn’t work out for undisclosed reasons. None of the men in “Can’t Get Enough” are her actual exes. They just act as exes.

I must say, these J.Lo music videos from the past several years have gotten quite immaculate. (Except for “Dinero.” It would’ve been immaculate in color, but Joseph Kahn apparently decided to leave it in black and white. Pure sabotage.) Granted, the “Can’t Get Enough” music video is just a snippet of the upcoming movie This is Me Now… A Love Story, which I’m hella excited for. I can’t wait to watch it all. And who knows? Maybe I’ll give my “English, Sociology, or Gender Studies”-esque analysis on the whole thing.

As for the song itself, I’m not gonna lie. I thought the song was cringe and sappy from the teased tidbits on her Instagram. But now that I’ve heard it in full, I can form an honest opinion. I actually really like it. In my mind I fantasize skating down the sidewalk while playing this song. I know some JLovers don’t think “Can’t Get Enough” is a good first single, and maybe it’s not. Though honestly, this song has grown on me A LOT. It might be the Jiggy Woogie challenge she did with Enola Bedard that caused it, because it sounded good there. Or it might just be that hearing the full song while viewing the video captured its full essence. I’d give the song itself a 7/10 and the video an 11/10.

I have hope that This Is Me… Now will be a really good album. Will it be This Is Me.. Then good? That remains to be seen, but it’ll be great if This Is Me.. Now is as good as its 21-year-old predecessor. Or at the very least, cohesive with its 21-year-old predecessor.

Watch “Can’t Get Enough” below. Be sure to pre-save the This Is Me… Now album and stream it on February 16th. Watch This Is Me… Now: A Love Story that same day on Amazon Prime.
